Josiah Elkins

With over 15 years of experience working directly with diverse populations that include children, older adults, and individuals with diverse abilities from all walks of life; Josiah has amassed a skillset that allows him to be a proven change-maker. Via his continued education and various work experiences Josiah has honed skills related to implementing evidence-based strategies and various mental health treatment approaches. Critical thinking, effective communication, motivational interviewing, and unconditional positive regard, are among the other skills and characteristics that set him apart from other providers in the field. Furthermore, Josiah possesses a distinct understanding of the challenges faced by underserved populations. Given his educational background coupled with his lived experience he has acquired a unique perspective on how certain challenges and stressors impact many individuals from various walks of life. Learning to navigate tough life situations has also helped Josiah gain valuable insight into what is needed to empower others to overcome these barriers as well in their pursuit of their goal of overall psychological well-being. Currently a professor of psychology, Josiah began his career as a CPS case manager in Milwaukee County before earning his master’s degree in counseling from Lakeland University. In addition to various case manager positions, Josiah has garnered experience in overseeing the effectiveness of youth-serving agencies at a state level while employed with the State of Texas HHS Department. Though education is undoubtedly a passion of his, Josiah maintains the belief that true impact is made at the ground level, with people helping people with compassion and understanding guiding the way to true change.

What This Means for LHBM Legacy LLC:  We’re excited to officially welcome Josiah Elkins to the LHBM Legacy LLC team. Josiah will be providing pyschoeducation and therapy to our clients starting in the new year across the counties we serve. (Rock, Walworth, Kewaunee, Door, and Shawano). I met Josiah a couple years ago while working at Shelter Care. We didn’t build a close bond at the time because he was more on-call while I was there, but what always stood out to me was the kind of man he was — a great guy and an even better role model for the youth we served. Bringing him onto our team is truly exciting because of the work we can do together. Our youth and families deserve real support, real guidance, and real healing — and we’re committed to making their lives a little bit better with a whole lot of love.
